Smoke: The dearest drawing to my heart.

In early 2023, I embarked on a new artistic journey with a pencil drawing. Although I didn’t have a final concept in mind at the outset, I was driven by a desire to create a highly detailed piece. I craved the challenge and the intricacy that comes with detailed pencil art.

The first element I committed to was the smoke. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to capture the ethereal, flowing nature of smoke. This initial phase took months to complete, as I wasn’t working on the drawing full-time. Despite the slow progress, I found the process therapeutic, immersing myself in the meticulous details of the smoke.

As the smoke took shape, I began to visualize the next component of the drawing. I decided to depict a woman behind the smoke. However, midway through this part of the drawing, I realized that the proportions were off. The woman’s face didn’t convey the emotions and vision I had in mind. Trusting my instincts, I made the bold decision to erase the woman. This was a significant risk, as some pencil lines might have left permanent marks on the paper. Nevertheless, I couldn’t settle for an art piece I wasn’t fully convinced of.

After erasing the initial attempt, I started anew with a different approach to drawing the woman. This time, it felt right. The proportions aligned with the smoke, and the woman resonated with my artistic vision.

The process of refining my ideas, experimenting with different elements, and making last-minute changes is the essence of creating art. This piece, with its blend of detailed smoke and the carefully crafted portrayal of the woman, is one of my dearest creations. It embodies the beauty of taking risks and following one’s artistic instincts.

This pencil drawing holds a special place in my heart, reflecting my journey as an artist and my commitment to capturing intricate details and emotions in my work.
